Rice kheer is made during the festivals like Diwali, Navratri, wedding party and other celebrations, and can be served as a dessert with the main course meal.
Rice kheer is easier to make and doesn’t take much time to cook. To make the rice kheer more delicious, it is preferable to soak the rice for 3-4 hours so the rice can cook quickly. Ingredients of Rice Kheer Recipe
- Rice - ¼ Cup
- Milk - 1 Litre
- Cardamom powder (elachi powder) - 1 Tablespoon
- Sugar - 6 Cups
- Chopped cashews - ¼ Cup
- Sliced almonds - ¼ Cup
- Chopped pistachio nuts - ¼ Cup
How to Make Rice Kheer
Step 1: Pour the milk into a heavy bottom based pan and add milk, cardamom powder, and rice.
Step 2: Cook it on MEDIUM heat and let it boil slowly. Stir occasionally and check that the rice is not sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Step 3: Simmer till the milk reduced by half of the amount and rice is cooked.
Step 4: Now, add sugar and mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Step 5: Now, remove the pan from the heat and transfer the rice kheer into the bowl.
Step 6: Add pistachios nuts and almonds to rice kheer and keep aside to cool.
Step 7: Serve Rice kheer cold.
