Ingredients of Stir Fried Sticky Rice Recipe
- Glutinous rice - 250 gm
- Oil - 2 Tablespoons
- Chopped spring onion - 2
- Chopped onion - ½
- Ginger root - 1 Slice
- Chinese black mushrooms - 4
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
- Pepper - 1 Teaspoon
How to Make Stir Fried Sticky Rice
Step 1: Wash the rice in plenty of cold water and place in a sieve. Pour 1.3 liters boiling water over the rice and set aside.
Step 2: Heat the oil in a wok and stir-fry the onion and ginger for about 2-3 minutes, until golden brown.
Step 3: Add the mushrooms and stir-fry for about 1 minute.
Step 4: Add the rice and enough of the water to cover the rice by 1.25 cm. Stir well.
Step 5: Cover and cook over moderate heat until there is almost no liquid left.
Step 6: Reduce the heat and continue cooking until all the liquid has been absorbed. This process takes about 20 minutes in total.
Step 7: Add salt and pepper. Remove the ginger and serve immediately.
Step 8: Sprinkle over some chopped fresh chives before serving.
