Patra Ni Machhi
Patra ni Machhi is a delicious Parsi steamed fish recipe. This fish recipe is made with fish fillets, fresh coconut, lemon juice, ginger, and garlic. Patra is Gujarati equivalent of the leaf. In English, it literally means – leaf’s fish.

Ingredients of Patra Ni Machhi Recipe
- Pomfret Fish - 1
- Oil - 2 Tablespoons
- Cumin seeds - ½ Teaspoon
- Green chili - 2 Tablespoons
- Coriander leaves - 2 Tablespoons
- Garlic - 1 Tablespoon
- Lemon juice - 1 Tablespoon
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
- Sugar - ½ Teaspoon
- Vinegar - 100 gm
- Fresh coconut - 2 Cups
- Mint leaves - 2 Tablespoons
- Banana leaf - 1
How to Make Patra Ni Machhi
Step 1: Clean and wash the fish. Remove the central bone, to get two large fillets.
Step 2: Broil cumin seeds and powder.
Step 3: Grind coconut, onions, green coriander leaves and green chilli.
Step 4: Add salt, sugar and lemon juice and mix them well.
Step 5: Spread the ground masala on one fillet of fish and put the other fillet over it.
Step 6: Wash and wipe the banana leaf.
Step 7: Brush it with oil. Wrap the fish fillet in the banana leaf. Cook in the moderately hot oven.
Step 8: Alternatively, it can be steamed.
Step 9: Serve the fish wrapped in the banana leaf.
