Pani Puri or Golgappa is a famous street food of India which doesn't require any introduction. You can find Pani Puri everywhere on the streets of India. Pani Puri or Golgappa is a small, round shaped crispy puri that is stuffed with potato, chickpeas, onion, coriander chutney and tangy water.
To make the lip-smacking and healthy Pani Puri at home is easy and can be ready in no time. You can make the crispy puri at home with semolina or can bring the readymade puris from the market and use it. To make the Pani Puri water, you can add different ingredients like mint, coriander, garlic, tamarind and make different flavored water to enjoy with Pani Puri. Ingredients of Pani Puri Recipe
- Semolina (rava) - 300 gm
- Potatoes - 100 gm
- Bengal gram - 100 gm
- Chopped mint leaves - 100 gm
- Tamarind - 50 gm
- finely chopped Green chilies - 2
- Oil - 1 Tablespoon
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
How to Make Pani Puri
To Make Puri
Step 1: Take a bowl and add semolina, salt, and some water to it and make tough dough from it and kneed it well and keep it aside for 1 hour.
Step 2: Now, make small rolls from the dough and make small puris from it.
Step 3: Put this puri on the wet cloth and cover it by another wet cloth and keep it as it is for 5-10 minutes.
Step 4: Now, heat the oil in the frying pan and deep fry the puri at a MEDIUM flame until they puff up are becomes crispy and golden brown.
Step 5: Remove and drain it on the absorbent paper and store it in an air-tight container.
To Make Pani
Step 1: In a blender add green chilies, meant leaves, tamarind water and grind to a fine chutney.
Step 2: Remove the green chutney in a pot and add 3-4 cups of water and mix it well. Add some ice cubes to it to make it chilled.
To Assemble Pani Puri
Step 1: Soak the Bengal gram for the overnight and on the next day boil it for 1 hour.
Step 2: Also, boil the potatoes and then make a small piece of the potatoes.
Step 3: Mix the boiled potatoes and Bengal grams in a bowl. And add red chili powder, salt and mix it well.
Step 4: Now, crack the top of the puri with your thumb.
Step 5: Add one tablespoon of the boiled potato-gram filling into the puri.
Step 6: Stir the pani into the filled puri and serve the pani puri immediately with dates-tamarind chutney.
