Mohanthal is a traditional Gujarati sweet recipe which is specially prepared during Diwali and on other auspicious occasions like marriage. Mohanthal is a fudge made from gram flour, khoya, sugar, saffron, and nuts. Mohanthal is an easy and quick recipe. You can make it with some easily available ingredients. Ingredients of Mohanthal Recipe
- Gram flour (besan) - 250 gm
- Ghee - 350 gm
- Khoya (mava) - 250 gm
- Sugar - 200 gm
- Milk - 1/2 Cup
- Cardamom powder - 1 Teaspoon
- A pinch of saffron (kesar)
- Chopped almonds - 1 Tablespoon
- Chopped pistachios - 1 Tablespoon
How to Make Mohanthal
Step 1: Take a bowl and add gram flour (besan) and 10 to 12 teaspoons of hot ghee and milk and mix it well, covered it and kept it aside for 10-15 minute.
Step 2: Now sieve this mixture.
Step 3: Take a frying pan and add three tablespoons ghee and add the sieved besan mixture and saute on MEDIUM heat, stirring continuously, till becomes dark in color.
Step 4: Now, add khoya to it and again saute it on the heat for 2-3 minutes
Step 5: Now, take a pot and mix sugar and water to it and make sugar syrup.
Step 6: Then add saffron, cardamom powder and saute gram flour and mix it well and stirring continuously.
Step 7: Remove it from the flame and pour the mixture into the greased rectangular pan. Make a thick layer of about 2 inches of the mixture.
Step 8: Garnish with chopped almonds (badam) and pistachios and keep it aside to cool.
Step 9: Cut mohanthal into square pieces and store it into an airtight container to use for about two weeks.
