Imarti
Imarti or Jangiri is a famous sweet of Rajasthan. Imarti is a popular dessert that is made with urad dal, deep fried and then dipped into the sugar syrup. Imarti is made and eaten during all major festivals of India. Imarti is soft and quickly melt in your mouth. Let’s make Imarti with below-given recipe steps.
Ingredients of Imarti Recipe
- Split Black gram (urad dal) - 25 gm
- Sugar - 250 gm
- A few drops yellow food color
- Saffron essence - ¼ Teaspoon
- Milk - 1 Cup
- Silver Foil
- Ghee - 2 Cups
How to Make Imarti
Step 1: Soak dal whole night in water.
Step 2: Next morning drain out the water nicely and grind to a paste.
Step 3: Mix in essence and colour and set aside.
Step 4: Put 2 cups water in sugar and prepare a syrup for one-third consistency.
Step 5: Remove from fire and keep it warm.
Step 6: Put enough mil in dal to make a thick batter.
Step 7: Heat enough ghee in deep frying pan to smoking, lower the heat, then pour the batter either through a thick cloth with a hole in the center or with the help of a coconut shell with a small central hole and form the mixture into two coils sticking to each other and then form small circles all-round the coils overlapping each other.
Step 8: Deep fry each imarti to a golden colour.
Step 9: After 10 minutes remove from syrup and put in a clean plate.
Step 10: Cover with silver foil before serving.
