Mathia is easy to make Gujarati snacks recipe. Mathiya is crispy, bit spicy and sweet snacks. It is made using moth flour, Black gram split, green chilies, carrom seeds, sugar, and different spices. This snack is perfect to enjoy the hot tea.
Although Mathia is available in routine days, Diwali is incomplete without it. In Gujarat, everybody makes Mathia at home or bring readymade from the market and then fry and store it. Ingredients of Mathia Recipe
- Moth dal flour - 2 Cups
- Urad dal flour (Black gram split) - 1 Cup
- Green chilies - 5
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 Tablespoon
- Carom seeds (ajwain) - 1 Tablespoon
- Turmeric powder - 1 Teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 Tablespoon
- Oil for frying
How to Make Mathia
Step 1: In a mixer, add green chilies and make a paste of it.
Step 2: Now, in a pot add 1 cup water, salt, and green chilies and boil it for 5-6 minutes. Remove it from heat and keep it aside.
Step 3: In the same pot, add another 1 cup water and sugar and boil it for 2-3 minutes. Keep it aside.
Step 4: Now, mix urad dal flour and moth dal flour and add both kind of boiled water, carom seeds, red chilli powder, white chilli powder, turmeric powder, sugar, and salt into mixed flour and make a tough dough from it. Knead the dough well.
Step 5: Now make small balls from the dough.
Step 6: Take a dough balls and roll out in medium sized round shaped thin puris.
Step 7: Repeat the procedure for all the dough balls.
Step 8: Now, heat oil in a frying pan and fry the Mathias on MEDIUM heat.
Step 9: fry the Mathias till it turns golden brown.
Step 10: Mathia is ready to serve. You can also store it in an airtight container for 10-15 days.
