Ingredients of Pork Slices with Crunchy Vegetables Recipe
- Light soy sauce - 1 Tablespoon
- Shaoxing rice wine - 1 Tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 Teaspoon
- Finely chopped and peeled ginger root - 1 Cup
- Lean pork - 450 gm
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
- Pepper - 1 Teaspoon
- Carrot - 1
- Celery - 1 Stick
- Fennel bulb - ½
How to Make Pork Slices with Crunchy Vegetables
Step 1: To make the sauce, in a small serving dish mix together the soy sauce, wine, sugar and ginger. Allow to stand for 30 minutes for the flavours to develop before serving.
Step 2: Meanwhile, cut the pork into thin slices and season with salt and pepper.
Step 4: Cut the carrot, celery and fennel into thin julienne strips. Place in a Chinese bamboo steamer and steam over a large pan or wok of boiling water for 3 minutes.
Step 5: Remove the steamer from the pan and lay the slices of pork over the vegetables. Return the steamer to the pan or wok and steam for a further 5 minutes.
Step 6: Serve the pork and vegetables accompanied by the cold sauce.
