Ingredients of Malai Kofta Recipe
- For Kofta
- Paneer - 350 gm
- Baking powder - 1 Teaspoon
- Chopped green chillies - 4
- Chopped coriander - 1 Tablespoon
- Ghee for frying - 4 Cups
- Plain flour (Maida) - 1 Tablespoon
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
- For Gravy
- Tomatoes - 4
- Fresh cream - 100 gm
- Ghee - 4 Tablespoons
- Chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon
- Salt - 1 Teaspoon
- To be ground into a paste (for the gravy)
- Onion - 1
- Grated coconut - 2 Tablespoons
- Garlic cloves - 5
- Green chilies - 2
- Red chilies - 2
- Coriander seeds - 2 Teaspoons
- Cumin seeds - 1 Teaspoon
- Cherongia sapick (charoli) - 2 Tablespoons
- Khus khus (Poppy Seeds) - 2 Teaspoons
- Ginger - 1 Tablespoon
- Garam masala - 2 Tablespoons
- Chopped fresh coriander - 2 Tablespoons
How to Make Malai Kofta
Step 1: Crumble the Paneer and knead it well.
Step 2: Mix the Paneer, plain flour (Maida), baking powder, chilies, coriander, and salt.
Step 3: Shape into small balls and deep fry in ghee until it becomes golden brown. Keep aside these koftas.
Step 1: Cut the tomatoes into big pieces, add four cups of water and cook it. When it becomes soft, prepare soup by passing through a sieve.
Step 2: Heat the ghee in a pot and fry the paste very well.
Step 3: Add the chili powder and fry again for one minute.
Step 4: Add the tomato soup, cream, garam masala, and salt and boil the gravy for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
- Just before serving, add the koftas.
- Serve hot with butter roti, chapatti, and jeera rice.
- Also, if you like, you can add one cup of boiled green peas to the gravy.
