Ingredients of Doi Maach Recipe
- Rohu Fish - 1 Kg
- Curd - 2 Cups
- Onions - 150 gm
- Ginger - 1 Cup
- Garlic - 1 Cup
- Green chili - 2 Tablespoons
- Oil - 2 Tablespoons
- Bay leaves - 2
- Cardamom - 2
- Cinnamon - 1 Inch
- Cloves - 4
- Red chili powder - 2 Tablespoons
- Turmeric powder - 2 Tablespoons
- Coriander leaves - ¼ Bunch
How to Make Doi Maach
Step 1: Clean and cut the fish into even pieces.
Step 2: Rub well with a little salt and half the turmeric powder and leave it for 30 minutes.
Step 3: Meanwhile grind half the onions, ginger and garlic to a smooth paste and add to the beaten curd.
Step 4: Mix in the remaining turmeric and red chilli powder and add the fish pieces to the curd mixture.
Step 5: Finely slice the remaining onions.
Step 6: Heat the oil in a frying pan and add cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and bay leaves.
Step 7: As these spices crackle, add the sliced onions and fry them until lightly golden brown.
Step 8: Add chopped green chilli and the fish along with the curd mixture.
Step 9: Simmer until fish is cooked.
Step 10: Check for seasoning. Garnish with chopped green coriander leaves and serve hot.
